  2. Oven: Preheat the oven to 425°F, ensuring the racks are positioned in the middle.
  3. Prepare the Sauce: Melt butter and stir in garlic, lemon, seasonings, and herbs; pour over the shrimp and set aside.
  4. Make the Crunchy Topping: In a bowl, combine grated parmesan cheese with panko crumbs, remaining butter, and paprika; sprinkle the crumbs mixture over the shrimp.

How Long Do You Bake Shrimp

Raw Shrimp should be baked for about 9 to 12 minutes, depending on their size, in a 350˚F preheated oven. However, if making this Shrimp Scampi recipe, follow the directions and bake the shrimp for 12 minutes in a 425˚F degree oven.

Tips For Success

  • Baking Dish: The baking dish should be deep enough to contain the shrimp and toppings but not too deep that it affects the cooking time or broiling process. A 9×9 or a 9×13 baking dish works perfectly. Also, ensure the shrimp are arranged in a single layer for even cooking.
  • Crumb Mixture: Make sure it’s evenly spread over the shrimp for a consistent golden crust.
  • Monitoring: Keep an eye during the broiling stage to avoid burning; the top should be just crispy and golden.
  • Make it Your Own: Customize the toppings; try adding chili flakes for a spicy kick or mix in different herbs for varied flavors.

What To Serve With Shrimp

Every serving style can offer a unique meal, so get creative and tailor your baked shrimp scampi presentation to the occasion or your taste preferences. While shrimp is in the oven, you can make these pesto zucchini noodles and creamy cucumber salad for a complete dinner.

For those looking for a low-carb option, garlic butter cauliflower rice can be a flavorful and healthy base for the baked shrimp scampi. Pair the shrimp with a side of roasted vegetables like bacon wrapped asparagus, roasted Brussels sprouts, or roasted artichokes to add nutrients to the plate.

  4. Carole Espenhahn says:

We are on low sodium low cholesterol diet. Can I replace the butter with olive oil?

  5. Sandy says:

This sounds delicious but at the moment I only have a bag of frozen cooked shrimp so I’m going to give it a try with only baking (or microwaving 1 minute and then broiling) just to heat the shrimp and crisp up the bread crumbs.
    I’m feeling adventurous!

    1. Katerina Petrovska says:

I hope you enjoy it! Thank YOU! ๐Ÿ™‚

  6. Connie Knapp says:

I would like to try this recipe, but I have no idea what โ€œporkโ€ panko bread crumbs are?

    1. Katerina Petrovska says:

      Hi!
You can just use regular panko crumbs, you don’t have to use pork panko crumbs. But, if you want to try them, you can get some on Amazon: https://amzn.to/3bG47xO

    2. Linda Foster says:

      Can frozen shrimp be used

      1. Katerina Petrovska says:

        Hi!
Frozen is okay to use as long as they are raw. Keep in mind, if using frozen and raw, make sure to use shrimp that have already been deveined and shells removed. If not, you’ll need to thaw the shrimp and clean them up before using.

  7. Merna Amin says:

    Hi
Can we replace the panko crumbs with almond flour if i don’t have access to the panko crumbs?

    1. Katerina Petrovska says:

You could, it will definitely work, but the panko crumbs help with the crunchy texture – using almond flour won’t give you that same crunch, and the taste will not be as intended. Can you make your own breadcrumbs and toast them in the oven for a few minutes? That will also work.

  8. Alysa Bannett says:

i’m so confused…it says pour 1/2 garlic butter on shrimp and toss to coat and arrange in baking dish…where does the other 1/2 garlic butter go? thank you

    1. Katerina Petrovska says:

      Hi!
The remaining melted butter is used to combine with the panko crumbs.
Look under Step #4 in the recipe: In a small bowl combine the remaining melted butter, pork panko crumbs, parmesan cheese, and paprika; mix well.
      I hope this helps. ๐Ÿ˜Š

  9. Gayle Gambil says:

      1. Katerina Petrovska says:

You’ll want to use raw shrimp.

  10. Lori says:

Where does the ยผ cup lemon juice go?

    1. Katerina Petrovska says:

Hi! Whisk the lemon juice into the melted butter together with the garlic and parsley.
