I love making these strawberry kiwi popsicles in the summer! Fresh fruit popsicles are a fun, 2-ingredient frozen treat made with real fruit and fruit juice. They’re quick to prepare and perfect for a snack or dessert.

The Strawberry Kiwi Popsicles I Make All Summer Long

These real fruit popsicles are refreshing, easy to make, and kid-friendly, without the artificial dyes, sugars, and funny business I try to avoid in many store-bought popsicle brands (especially when I make them with my grandmother’s homemade strawberry juice). They take minutes to put together with fresh fruit, and seconds to inhale on a hot summer day.

Making fruit popsicles is really more of a method than a set recipe. For this DIY, I make them strawberry-kiwi flavored. But the beauty of making these yourself is that you can adapt them with any fruit you’d like.

Why Make Your Own Fruit Popsicles

  • Simple ingredients. In case you couldn’t tell from my 2-ingredient homemade ice cream and frosted lemonade, minimal ingredients are a theme here, and I’m a fan!
  • Endlessly adaptable. Customize your homemade popsicles with fresh, frozen, or blended fruit and fruit juice of your choosing. I offer some of my favorite flavor suggestions further on.
  • Minutes to make. Slice up your favorite fruit, fill your popsicle molds, and freeze. These take about 2-4 hours to fully freeze, but they store well in the freezer for weeks.

Only 2 Ingredients

You’ll find the complete recipe in the recipe card below, but here’s a look at the simple ingredients needed to make these kiwi strawberry popsicles (or any fruit flavor you’d like).

  • Fresh Fruit – You can use fresh or frozen fruit that’s sliced thin or blended to make your popsicles. The best fruits are strawberries, kiwi, mango, pineapple, peaches, nectarines, watermelon, blueberries, raspberries, and cherries. If I missed one that you’d recommend, let me know in the comments!
  • Fruit Juice – Easy to adapt to your chosen combination of fruits. You can also replace the fruit juice in homemade popsicles with coconut water, lemonade, limeade, or yogurt.

Quick Variations

These are some easy ways to change up your homemade fruit popsicles.

  • Watermelon. Use watermelon purée instead of fruit juice.
  • Mixed berries. Try a mix of strawberries, blueberries, blackberries, and raspberries.
  • Make it tropical. Add coconut milk and lime juice for tropical vibes.
  • Enhance the flavors. Boost the flavors with strawberry sauce, honey, lemon, lime juice, or flavoring extracts.
  • Creamsicle. Combine 3 parts orange juice with 1 part Greek yogurt and a few dashes of vanilla extract. Mix and freeze to make homemade creamsicles.
  • Refreshers. Turn my copycat Starbucks strawberry acai refresher into a popsicle version. Yum!

Boozy Version

For an adult twist, add a splash of your favorite wine or spirit to make sangria pops or strawberry mojito popsicles. As a rule of thumb, when making boozy popsicles, stick to 1 shot of alcohol (1½ ounces) for every 1 cup of fruit juice. There needs to be 20% or less total alcohol, or your popsicles will be slushy rather than frozen.

Fruit Popsicles

Homemade fruit popsicles are easy to make with kiwi, strawberries, or your favorite sliced fruit. These are kid-friendly and perfect on a hot summer day!
Prep Time: 10 minutes
Freezing Time: 1 hour
Total Time: 1 hour 10 minutes
Servings: 10 popsicles

Ingredients 

  • 20 strawberries, thinly sliced
  • 5 kiwis, thinly sliced
  • Strawberry-Kiwi Juice, or fruit juice, as needed

Instructions 

  • Fill the molds. Arrange sliced strawberries and sliced kiwis inside the popsicle molds.
  • Add fruit juice. Pour just enough strawberry-kiwi juice into each mold to cover the fruit.
  • Freeze. Insert popsicle sticks and freeze until frozen solid, about 1 to 2 hours. If the popsicle sticks won't stand upright, add a little more of the fruit to thicken the mixture.

Notes

  • Popsicle sticks: If you’re having trouble getting the popsicle sticks to stand up, pop the molds in the freezer for about 20 to 30 minutes first. Once the mixture starts to firm up, insert the sticks and continue freezing until solid.

How to Make Homemade Fruit Popsicles

My popsicle molds (pictured) make ten popsicles. Depending on the size and number of molds you’re using, you’ll need to scale the fruit slices and juice accordingly.

  • Start with fresh fruit. All you do is slice and then arrange your desired fruit inside the popsicle molds.
  • Add juice. Pour fruit juice into each mold, enough to cover the fruit. Leave a little room at the top 1) so it doesn’t overflow in the next step, and 2) for expansion when the juice freezes.
  • Freeze. Insert your popsicle sticks and then freeze 1-2 hours, or until the popsicles are solid.

How Long Do These Last In the Freezer?

Homemade popsicles last several months in the freezer. I always recommend enjoying these within 6-8 weeks, though, for the best freshness and flavor. They can remain in the popsicle molds, or you can transfer the frozen popsicles to a freezer bag.

    These are GORGEOUS!! (and I love Snapple, I practically live on Diet Peach Tea, so 90’s but whatever, I’m the boss of my life). I grew my short hair out to halfway down my back…I’m 35. I finally cut it off a couple weeks ago (ain’t nobody got time for it) but you can TOTALLY pull off a side braid. 🙂
