- I like to add more buttermilk when serving it as a dressing for salads, but I will add more sour cream or plain yogurt if serving it as a dip.

You can use low fat yogurt or full fat yogurt, but if you do use Greek yogurt, see how it tastes without the sour cream, first. The sour cream will make it thicker and more sour.
