Garlicky Steamed Broccoli – Delicious and healthy side dish of steamed broccoli rolled in buttery panko crumbs, garlic and lemon.
Well Hello! How’s it going, friends? Happy Wednesday!
Guess what?! We are snowed-in and freezing! Not surprising since this is Indiana, the other Alaskan state…
In recent years, our winters are just crazy-cold. At this moment, when you factor in the wind chill, it is about -30 degrees Fahrenheit. Brrrr!!
Also? I’d like to take a minute and wish my dear fellow Orthodox Christians a very Merry Christmas!! Christ is Born!
I realize that for the rest of you he’s already two weeks old and crawling, but I’m the one who’s going to play stuff-my-face at Mom’s house with Chocolate Baklava today and not YOU! Na na na na na na. 😉
Along with the Baklava, I’m also bringing this side of Garlicky Steamed Broccoli to balance it all out. Fingers crossed, I will not freeze solid while trying to reach Mama’s house.
I am always surprised at myself and the constant cravings I have for green veggies. Brussels sprouts and broccoli are forever at the top of my list.
I come up with a million ways to ensure I get a proper greens-fix. Most of the time that means healthy vegetables swimming in lotsa cheese, but not this time! In fact, I’ve been chillin’ with this recipe, or a variation of it, since that one time when I made Crumb Coated Broccoli for the French Fridays Club.
It was love at first bite and I never got tired of it.
Now, enough rambling. I need to get my snowsuit on and go to Church and YOU need to get to the recipe so that you can go to your kitchen and make this beautiful side dish for the Fam. It will take you all of 20 to 25 minutes TOPS.
By the way, we’re steaming broccoli without a steamer. YAY!!
I don’t even own a steamer…
So that’s broccoli meets garlic and crumbs with a hint of lemon. Dreamy.
ENJOY!

hi
better to cook brochli without water .i mean steam it while cooking rice for dinner .and then marinade it with this best recipie i have ever seen.
thanks katerina
This was good, except for the breadcrumbs – they’re pretty soggy, and I think I’ll try this recipe again, omitting them. Otherwise, I used about half as much butter and no almonds, but the taste was good!
This looks delicious! Thanks for sharing!
Gorgeous photos and this broccoli is going on my must-try soon list!
Ben’s favorite way to eat any vegetable is steamed – my favorite way to eat any vegetable is with garlic. This is totally a win win for both of us! How gorgeous!
Broccoli has never looked better, I love the garlic and bread crumbs!
I LOVE garlic so very much. When I eat it (according to my husband) I smell like it for days. Who cares. It’s totally worth it for delicious garlic 🙂
Just chew fresh parsley. It takes away the lingering smell of garlic – just a stalk and leaves will do the trick!
Hi Anne! That’s my mom’s advice, always, and it does work! 🙂
Katerina, gorgeousness. We’ve been eating bunch of veggies recently. I usually roast never steam. I take it back one veggie I used to steam is broccoli. Garlic-y is always fantastic.
