  • Parsley: Chopped fresh parsley adds color and fragrance.

How to Make Garlic Butter Sauce

Guys, this part is so easy that you almost don’t need a recipe. Once you try this, you’ll want to keep some on hand all the time. And when it’s this doable, why not?

  1. Melt the Butter. Place a saucepan or skillet over medium heat. Add the butter, and let it melt.
  2. Add the Garlic. Stir in the minced garlic, and cook it gently in the butter for 2 to 3 minutes, stirring frequently. Be careful not to burn the garlic, or it will be very bitter and ruin the sauce.
  3. Add Parsley and Enjoy! Once the garlic has cooked, stir in the parsley and take the sauce off of the heat. Serve warm, or store following the storage guidelines below.

Recipe Notes And Tips

  • To Thicken the Sauce: If you want a slightly thicker sauce, you can whisk a small amount of flour or cornstarch into the butter while it’s melting. Let it cook for a minute to thicken. I recommend starting with half a teaspoon and adding more if needed.
  • Salted Butter: Use salted butter here. If you use unsalted, you’ll want to add a pinch or two of salt to bring out the flavors.
  • Lemon Juice: Whisk in a bit of fresh lemon juice to cut through the richness of the sauce.
  • Herb Options: Parsley is my favorite, but you can add any herbs you like.
  • Add Onion: A little onion flavor is also great in this recipe. Try adding onion powder, chopped chives, or thinly-sliced green onion.
  • Add More Flavors: Fried shallots, lemon pepper seasoning, smoked paprika, or just a few grinds of black pepper – make this one your own with your favorite spices and seasonings.

How To Store Garlic Butter Sauce

To store leftover sauce, pour it into a small jar (or an airtight container) and keep it in the fridge for up to 5 days or freeze it for up to 3 months. To reheat, scoop the desired amount into a small saucepan and heat on low until warm. You could also microwave it in short bursts of about 8 seconds, stirring after each burst.
