These Turkey Meatballs Are Perfect For Football Season

Happy Sunday, Guys! & Girls!

You know the saying, “Ask, and you shall receive”?

Well. Between Twitter and Facebook, you all raised your opinion and I listened. Brown Sugar-Glazed Meatballs IT IS!

Do you know what’s before us? Football Season!!

Saying that I “LOVE” football-food is an understatement. If there wasn’t a “main course” to deal with, MY food-life would be all about appetizers; meatballs, dips, and finger food, to be exact. Calories would be non-existent, and scales, too.

Buuuut, since calories and scales are pretty much here to stay (booooo), I always find a way to work around their stubbornness.

You and I are no strangers to meatballs – Pineapple Barbecue Sauce Glazed Meatballs, Cream Cheese Pork Meatballs, Cashew Chicken Meatballs – clearly, we’re all in this together. BUT today’s meatballs are a bit special.

Made with Butterball’s Turkey Sweet Onion Burgers meat, these meaty balls are lean and delicious, wholesome and super tasty. Like, finger-snapping good.

A box of Butterball turkey burgers

I’m especially fond of these beauties because I didn’t have to sacrifice a delicious tasting meatball. Butterball’s Turkey Burgers come in a variety, from Original to Sweet Onion – which is what I used in this recipe – and from Cheddar to All Natural White. Apparently, there’s something for everyone.

Also? There’s Butterball Turkey BACON!! ♥
OH! And Dinner Sausages! And deli meat.

Did I say bacon?? Good.

Seasonings and spices together in a white bowl

Since my meatballs always bring all the boys to the yard, instead of just throwing a couple of Turkey Burgers on the grill for our Football Party, I did a little soul searching, which resulted in breaking up that meat and rolling it up with an out of this world seasoning that I make all.the.time.

And, just to clear things up, truth of the matter is; it’s not my meatballs that bring the boys to the yard. It’s my husbands 50 football and soccer channels.

These meatballs are a way to keep THEM occupied while I surf around Facebook.

      Hi Chelsye!

There’s about 340 calories per serving, which is 4 to 5 meatballs. 12 grams of fat and 15 grams of carbs. I hope that helps. Thank you!!

  3. These meatballs were delicious! I used gluten free breadcrumbs and they turned out great. Sweet with some spice, and so flavorful! Thanks for a great dinner!

  4. Hi Katrina! How many meatballs does this make & where do I find those Sweet Onion Burgers in da Grocery Store cuz Ive Never seen them

      Hi Debra!!

These should make around 25 to 30 meatballs. At the grocery store where I shop, I found the Butterball Burgers in the refrigerators and they were placed near the pre-baked hams, sausages, etc… I hope you can find them and make these meatballs because they are so good! Have a great weekend!!

  5. Really nice. Lean is important. Cooked full fat full butter full salted full double cheese infused meatballs the other day and couldn’t get through more than 10 of them 😛

Might do this recipe but with chicken and cut down on the fatty extras like you’ve done.

  6. These look great for my fussy child to eat but I’m in the UK so can only get plain turkey mince. What flavours are in the sweet onion mince you use? I don’t want mine to be bland! 🙂

      1. Hi Katerina,
Your recipe looks amazing! You did mention that you can use beef instead of turkey? The recipe for the beef ones doesn’t call for adding bread crumbs to the mixture?. I will be following the amount of bread crumbs as you mentioned in the turkey meatballs . Maybe i will follow the recipe that you used for the turkey meatballs and just use beef instead of the turkey. Will make a note to self to let you know how they come out. Crossing fingers and hope for the best!

        1. Followed the turkey meatball recipe. Used ground beef instead of turkey burgers.. They came out delicious! Made them tonight for the game tomorrow. Thank you for the recipe.. Will be making them again another time.

have you ever baked your meatballs. That is what I do all the time instead of frying. I usually do beef but I know that turkey is dryer. Have you ever tried this method of cooking meatballs

  12. These meatballs look delicious!! I’m adding these to my menu for this next week. Thanks for the recipe!!

  13. I’m usually too lazy to turn the bowl of seasoned meat into meatballs when burgers/patties or even meatloaf is faster but I’m sure your football watching guests loved them. They look delicious as always.

Now, I’m hungry and thinking that I can fire up the bbq early.
