How To Make This Baked Shrimp Dip

  • First, you want to cook the shrimp. If you want inspiration, I suggest using this easy and delicious Lemon Herb Garlic Butter Shrimp recipe. Then, let the shrimp cool a bit before chopping them up into pieces. 
  • Combine the ingredients. In a large bowl combine the cream cheese, mayonnaise, yogurt (or sour cream), shredded mozzarella cheese, parmesan cheese, garlic, lemon juice, herbs, and seasonings. Please ensure that the cream cheese is softened, otherwise, it will be a bit of a challenge to whip everything together. 
  • Stir in the shrimp and bake. Add the diced shrimp to the cheesy mixture; stir and mix until everything is completely incorporated and transfer the shrimp mixture to a lightly greased 2-quart baking dish. Bake for about 25 minutes, or until golden and bubbly.
  • Serve. Remove from oven and serve immediately with veggies, pita chips, crackers, etc.

Baked Shrimp Dip

Ingredients 

  • 1 pound medium shrimp, thawed, peeled, deveined, and cooked
  • 8 ounces cream cheese, softened
  • ½ cup sour cream, or plain yogurt
  • ¼ cup mayonnaise
  • ¾ cup shredded mozzarella
  • ¼ cup grated parmesan cheese
  • 1 tablespoon minced garlic, about 4 cloves of garlic
  • ½ teaspoon Old Bay Seasoning, or to taste
  • hot sauce, to taste, optional
  • salt & freshly ground black pepper, to taste
  • juice of 1 lemon
  • ¼ cup chopped fresh parsley, divided

Instructions 

  • Prep. Preheat the oven to 350˚F and lightly grease a 2-quart baking dish. 8×8 works great.
  • Cook the shrimp. In a skillet, cook the shrimp in a tablespoon of cooking oil for 1 to 2 minutes per side, or until pink on all sides. Let cool for a bit and coarsely chop.
  • Combine the ingredients. In a large bowl, stir together the cream cheese, sour cream, mayonnaise, mozzarella, parmesan, garlic, Old Bay seasonings, hot sauce (if using), salt, pepper, lemon juice, 2 tablespoons chopped parsley, and the chopped shrimp. Mix and stir until thoroughly incorporated.
  • Bake. Transfer the mixture to the baking dish and bake for 25 minutes or until golden and bubbly.
  • Finish and serve. Remove the shrimp dip from the oven and garnish with the remaining parsley. Serve hot or warm with veggies, pita chips, crackers, etc.

Notes

  • Feel free to play with the dip’s flavors by mixing in different herbs, spices, or seasonings to match your preferences.
  • Introduce more flavors and texture by mixing in veggies like baby spinach or chopped bell peppers.
  • If you’re out of shrimp or prefer something else, try using crab or diced ham for a tasty and different twist.
  • This dip can be made up to a day in advance. Just cover and store it in the fridge. Before baking, let it sit out for 30 minutes to reach room temperature.
