This easy fruit salad with melon, pineapple, and berries is basically summer in a bowl. It’s fresh, juicy, and works any time of day with that perfect pop of flavor.

A Refreshing Tropical Fruit Salad Recipe
Okay, listen up – there’s fruit salad, and then there’s THIS fruit salad. This fruit salad is something special. I bet you’re thinking, “Lady, fruit salad is fruit salad”. But – no! This is next level fruit salad.
Here’s why… I slipped something special into the dressing that is so unexpected and adds the perfect pop of freshness to pair with the tropical flavors from the melon, pineapple, and berries. Your taste buds are going to be jumping for joy!
Ingredients You’ll Need
Mmmmmm Mmmmmm! You’re going to love all of the fruit in this mix. And that super special ingredient in the dressing, get ready for it! Here’s what you’ll need:
The Fruit
- cantaloupe, cut into bite-sized cubes
- pineapple, cut into bite-sized cubes
- fresh strawberries
- raspberries
- blueberries
- blackberries
For the Dressing
- honey
- lemon juice
- fresh basil

How to Cut a Pineapple
Lay the pineapple on its side and slice off the top and bottom. Stand it upright, then use a sharp knife to cut downward along the sides, removing the peel as you go. Rotate until it’s fully peeled.
Slice the pineapple in half lengthwise, then cut each half in half again to make quarters. Trim out the tough center core from each piece. From there, slice into long strips and cut across to make chunks.
How to Cut a Melon
Start by washing the outside of the melon. Place it on a cutting board and slice it in half, then scoop out and discard the seeds.
Cut each half into wedges about ½-inch thick. Make vertical cuts down the flesh of each wedge (without cutting through the rind), then run your knife between the flesh and the rind, following the curve. The cubes will fall right off.
Repeat with the remaining wedges.

How to Make this Fruit Salad
- Chop: Cut up the fruit and drain off any excess liquid.
- Combine: Add everything to a large bowl and give it a quick toss.
- Make the Dressing: In a small bowl, whisk together the honey and lemon juice, then stir in the basil.
- Coat: Pour the dressing over the fruit and gently toss to coat.
- Chill, then serve: Cover and refrigerate for about 30 minutes to let everything come together. Then dig in.
Variation Ideas for this Fresh Fruit Salad
This is a great salad because you have so many options for mixing things up.
- Switch up the fresh basil leaves for fresh mint leaves.
- Swap the cantaloupe for honey dew or watermelon.
- Use mango and/or kiwi in place of (or in addition to) the pineapple.
- Use whatever berries are seasonal and fresh at the time in your area.
- Swap the lemon juice for lime juice.

Serving Suggestions
I consider fruit salad an anytime kind of situation. Breakfast? Yes. Lunch? Absolutely. A side with dinner? Of course. Dessert? The easiest win. And brunch? Non-negotiable.
I love serving this sweet fruit salad with ham and cheese croissants for an easy brunch situation. It also works with heartier mains like piri piri chicken or oven grilled steak. Add a handful of nuts and spoon it over yogurt for a more filling breakfast or lunch. And at a cookout, it’s my excuse to grab a slice of cherry cheesecake after all that good-for-you fruit!

How to Store Fresh Fruit Salad
- You can store your fruit salad in the fridge in an airtight container for about 3-4 days. The fruit will lose liquid and become softer the longer you store it, but it will still taste great! I think the flavors meld together and it tastes even better sometimes on day 2, anyway!
