Apples and Cheddar Chicken Salad Recipe – Apples, cheddar cheese and walnuts pack a delicious crunchy bite in this Chicken Salad with Honey Yogurt Dressing.
It’s like Fall Harvest in your bowl!
Heeeey, guys! Happy Fri-YAY! Welcome to my food sanctuary – I’m so happy to see you!
Real life: I made this chicken salad in the middle of Summer and ate the entire thing. I know, I know. Eating in-season food is better for you, but it’s apples and cheese… I mean, come awwwn.
I made it again, just so I could share it with you, and this time, I ate the entire thing myself, again. No, not in one sitting, but for lunch and dinner, in the same day. Cannot. get. enough.
Seriously. I do not know how to add MORE flavor over green salad leaves, besides adding bacon, maybe? Which I sort of want to do and you probably should? Just an idea.
Look up there at those downright ADORABLE little cheddar squares that took me two hours to cut up into perfectly squared slices. Are you asking yourself why I didn’t just go and buy cubed cheddar? Because I’m cheap. That’s the truth. There, I said it and I’m proud of it.
Here’s the thing. Do you know how strongly I feel about apples and cheddar, together? In my heart of hearts, I believe that it goes together like peanut butter and jelly. Bacon and eggs. Avocado and toast. Cheech and Chong. Err. Where did that come from!? Too much Comedy Central up in here…
Anywho. Over this lovely fresh chicken salad we have: crunchy walnuts, Granny Smiths!, juicy leftover chicken breasts, bites of cheddar cheeeeeeese!, and a cool, sweet, perfectly flavored Honey Yogurt Dressing.
Take this salad to a potluck or just eat it all yourself, just as I did. You won’t be in the wrong.

I made this a few weeks ago and we all loved it. Making it again tonight. I like cheddar and apples together, but LOVE crumbled blue cheese on a salad, so I used that instead. I also added a pear instead of the granny smith and used vanilla greek yogurt. I could eat this every other day it’s that good!
Can you use spinach for this?
Yes, you can definitely use baby spinach.
Looks amazing, can’t wait to try this.
Thank YOU! Please enjoy! 🙂
Is there a specific reason your dressing calls for eggless msyo or will rgular work? Thanks !
Hi! Regular mayo will definitely work! 🙂 In as far as eggless mayo goes, it has no cholesterol and contains about 1/3 of the saturated fat found in traditional mayo.
How many servings are in this? I want to make sure I don’t overdo it and go over the calorie count that was given!
Hi! This salad makes 6 servings.
Thank you so much!!
How many people does this salad serve??

How do you cook your chicken? Looks so good!!
Hi Chris!! Thanks so much!! It really is very good and juicy! 😀
Almost always, I use this method that I talked about in my Chipotle Chicken recipe post >>> https://diethood.com/grilled-chipotle-chicken-salad/ It’s all in the recipe box. I hope that helps! 🙂
What a gorgeous salad, and I love the apple cheddar combo!
This is the prettiest salad I have ever seen! And I’m dying over that dressing!
I love fresh, hearty salads! This looks like such a delicious one!
The cheddar in this salad is making me so happy! Looks amazing!
Hi! Can you use non fat plain Greek yogurt? Thanks!
Yes, that works, too. Keep in mind that you may have to water it down a bit if the dressing is too thick to pour over the salad.
I want to make a large jar of the honey yogurt dressing and pour it on everything! This salad is gorgeous Love apples and cheddar together!
I totally agree! Apples and cheddar are a perfect match! (Plus, that honey yogurt dressing sounds great!)
