A homemade cheeseball is a timeless classic for holiday gatherings, and this delicious white chocolate cheeseball looks fancy, it’s super quick, and it needs only 5 ingredients! What’s truly impressive is its quick prep time. It shares the convenience of other easy-to-make dishes like a quick veggie dip and baked shrimp dip. For a twist on the traditional, try serving mini bacon cheese balls, which are always popular with guests.

Why We Love This Cheeseball Recipe

  • Prepare in Advance: You can make this recipe up to a week ahead and keep it refrigerated, although it’s best to add the nuts just before serving to keep them crunchy.
  • Exciting Flavor Mix: This cheese ball is far from ordinary. The fusion of cream cheese and melted white chocolate creates an extraordinary taste.
  • Effortless Entertainment: As an ideal party appetizer, this cheese ball is incredibly easy to manage. Simply prepare it, refrigerate, and then serve it with an assortment of fruits and graham crackers.

Cheese Ball Ingredients

  • Cream Cheese: This is the base of the cheeseball.
  • Light Brown Sugar: Adds a mild sweetness and enhances flavor.
  • Powdered Sugar: Contributes to the sweetness and helps with the texture.
  • White Chocolate Chips: Melted and mixed in for a rich, chocolaty taste.
  • Chopped Nuts (Walnuts recommended): Used partly inside for texture and as a coating for crunchiness.
  • Graham Crackers, Cookies, Assorted Fruits: Served alongside for dipping or spreading the cheeseball.

How To Make A Chocolate Cheeseball

  1. Prep: Prepare a plate with plastic wrap.
  2. Combine: In a mixer, blend cream cheese with sugars and vanilla until smooth. Mix in melted white chocolate and a handful of chopped walnuts.
  3. Shape It: Transfer the mixture onto the lined plate and shape it into a ball using the plastic wrap.
  4. Fridge: Refrigerate for 1 to 2 hours until firm.
  5. Add Nuts: Roll the chilled cheese ball in the remaining chopped nuts.
  6. Serve: Serve on a plate with graham crackers, cookies, and fruits.

How To Serve

Present the cheeseball on a serving plate surrounded by graham crackers, cookies, and assorted fruits. Serve the cheese ball with a spreading knife and have guests spread the snacks with the cheeseball.

Recipe Tips And Variations

  • Cheese Variations: Experiment with different types of cream cheese for varying flavors and textures. Avoid fat-free cream cheese as it doesn’t hold up well.
  • Nut Choices: While walnuts are recommended, feel free to use other nuts like pecans or almonds for different textures and flavors.
  • Chocolate Options: Try different types of chocolate chips, like milk or dark chocolate, for a unique twist.
  • Serving Tip: For a festive look, roll the cheeseball in a mix of nuts and mini chocolate chips.
  • Make Ahead: This cheeseball can be made ahead, but add the nut coating just before serving to maintain crunchiness.

Instructions

  • Line a round plate with a long piece of plastic wrap and set aside.
  • In your mixer's bowl, combine the softened cream cheese, powdered sugar, brown sugar, and vanilla; beat until creamy and completely smooth.
  • Add in the melted white chocolate and 1/4 cup chopped nuts. Continue to beat until thoroughly incorporated. Taste to see if it needs more sugar, and adjust accordingly.
  • Using a rubber spatula, scrape out the mixture and transfer it to the previously prepared plate lined with plastic wrap.
  • Working with the plastic wrap, wrap and shape the cream cheese mixture into a ball.
  • Place the cheeseball in the fridge for about 2 hours or until cold and firm.
  • Put the remaining chopped nuts on a plate.
  • Remove the cheese ball from the freezer and carefully unwrap.
  • Roll the cheeseball in the chopped nuts.
  • Place on a serving plate and serve with graham crackers, cookies, fruits, etc…

Notes

  • Melting Chocolate Chips: The best method to melt white chocolate chips is to place them in a microwave-safe bowl, mix them with a tablespoon of vegetable oil, and microwave on HIGH for 40 seconds. Remove and stir until completely melted.
  • Shaping the Cheese Ball: Shape the cheese into a ball using the plastic wrap. I find it easier to reshape it again and make it smoother after it’s been in the fridge for about 45 minutes.
  • Nuts: Although walnuts are my preferred choice, you can opt for peanuts, pecans, or other nuts to add varied textures and tastes.
  • Chocolate Chip Variations: Experiment with milk, dark, or even flavored chocolate chips to give the cheeseball a distinctive flavor.
  • Preparing in Advance: You can prepare the cheeseball in advance, without the nuts. Apply the nut coating right before serving.
