HOMEMADE BARBECUE SAUCE

I have one thing to say, though: STOP buying Barbecue Sauce. Just stop. Too much sugar, too much sodium, too much “X” words in the ingredients that we can’t pronounce… it’s just overboard.

You don’t need all that and it is much better when you can make your own, especially when it is this easy.

I use this Barbecue Sauce on pork, chicken, meatballs, and on anything else that can somehow be turned into a sweet and sour deal.

INGREDIENTS FOR HONEY BARBECUE SAUCE

Also, you should know that this is not about some fancy ingredients. All this involves is some ketchup, a bit of honey, apple cider vinegar, and a perfect dose of worcestershire sauce. All together cooked down to a perfect thickness and slathered over your favorite chops. Or chicken.

ENJOY!

  1. Juuuuust a tiny tad too acidic for our family, but still SO delicious. It’s the recipe we’ll be using from now on – just lessening the amount of vinegar. I did add more honey before serving because I’m addicted to sickeningly sweet sauce, lol, but we tried it before that and it was awesome.

  2. Wow I’m making this as I’m commenting and I already know it’s gonna be delish I just added a tiny bit of sweet chilly sauce also thanks for sharing I’m going to be putting it on my chicken breasts tonight

  3. Absolutely THE best bbq sauce I have ever had. My hubs, who is not a fan of bbq, loves it! Have only had it on ribs, but going to make pulled beef next week.

  4. Added two tablespoons of apricot jam and some chipotle pepper and smoked paprika, tastes amazing. I always use this on wings now

The comment should say I need to know how much one serving is (e.g. one cup, half a cup, etc.)

      Thanks

I love this! I’m a big, big fan of barbecue sauce, and years ago I was shocked … and heartbroken … to scan the bottle of my then-favorite sauce and see the very first ingredient was high-fructose corn syrup. What?!?!? 🙁 Such a brilliantly easy idea to just make your own sauce, so you know exactly what’s in it! Thanks for the great recipe!

You are so right! There are some recipes that are just better, and tastier, homemade. I need to pick up some local honey and then we are off to make our own BBQ sauce!
