Fun Add-Ins

  • Want to mix things up? Add a spoonful of almond butter or peanut butter for extra creaminess, a scoop of protein powder for muscle recovery, or even a dash of vanilla extract for a flavor boost.

Smoothie Making Tips

  • For a thicker smoothie, add a handful of ice cubes or use frozen bananas.
  • Remember to blend your oats and flaxseeds completely for a smoother texture.
  • Lastly, if you’re using a less powerful blender, chop your banana and coffee ice cubes into smaller pieces to make blending easier.

Variations

  • The beauty of a coffee smoothie is its versatility. You can adjust the recipe according to your personal preferences or dietary needs. Prefer a vegan version? Opt for plant-based milk and a sweetener like agave nectar. Need a gluten-free option? Use certified gluten-free oats. The possibilities are nearly endless!
  • Personalize your smoothie by incorporating additional healthy ingredients like chia seeds or hemp seeds.
  • Enrich this coffee smoothie with healthy fats and achieve a creamy consistency by adding half of a small ripe avocado.

Notes

  • Blend in stages: To get a smoother texture, blend the oats and flaxseeds with milk before adding the remaining ingredients.
  • Use a ripe banana: Ripe bananas are naturally sweeter and blend better, giving your smoothie a sweeter and creamier texture.
  • Freeze your coffee in advance: Frozen coffee cubes not only chill your smoothie but they also keep it from becoming watered down. Be sure to freeze your coffee the night before.
  • Customize the sweetness: Depending on the ripeness of your banana and your personal preference, you might not need any additional sweetener.
  • Add protein: Consider adding a scoop of your favorite protein powder for an even more satiating smoothie.
  • Toppings: Consider topping your coffee smoothie with a sprinkle of cacao nibs, granola, chia seeds, or a drizzle of nut butter for added texture and flavor.

Could I use the coffee straight as it comes out of the brewer or do I have to freezs it first?

    1. Katerina Petrovska says:

Hi! ๐Ÿ™‚ You have to freeze it first – the ice-cubed coffee is what will give the smoothie that thicker consistency. It functions as a flavor, but it is also important for the texture of the smoothie.

  6. Rathi says:

Does the smoothie work with instant coffee?

    1. Katerina Petrovska says:

Yep, it will work just fine. ๐Ÿ™‚

    2. Ginger Campbell says:

  7. C. Scott says:

I have been making this recipe on a regular basis since I ran across it last summer. It is sooo good! Any leftover coffee is immediately frozen so I always have a tray of frozen cubes on hand. Thanks so much.

I fucking hate you so much for using autoplay music on your site.

You’re a shitfucking idiot if you think that’s a good idea.

    1. Katerina Petrovska says:

TO come to someone’s website and curse them out? Classy…
I hate that people use ad blockers, but we all got to do what we got to do.

Donโ€™t mind about such people who put you down, just move on dear , they are just jealousy.

    2. Barb says:

WOW! If you’re feeling that angry first thing in the morning you need another coffee and maybe you should visit a different site. This is the worst comment I’ve ever read on a food blog. Shame on you!!!

      Katerina,
“Don’t get upset with people or situations, both are POWERLESS without your reaction.”
      Have a Merry Christmas.

      1. Katerina Petrovska says:

Hi Barb!!! Thank you SOOO much for posting this! โ™ฅ I needed to hear it. XO
I debated whether or not to erase that comment, but I decided to keep it so that other readers can see just how hurtful and hateful some of these commenters can be. Not sure why people feel it’s okay to curse others out, especially while hiding behind a computer. I wonder if this Mary person would say the same thing to me if we were face to face. ๐Ÿ™‚
Again, thank YOU! Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays!

    3. Diana says:

Who shit in your Wheaties. You sound not only very angry, but very ignorant. Glad I am not you.

    5. Ann Marie Butler says:

Wow, at first I, stereotypically, thought this comment was from a male. Not that this would have made it any more acceptable, but perhaps a tad less shocking. You really need to get a grip. God help who has the misfortune of having to live with you.

  10. Marica says:

Do the oats make it gritty?

    1. Katerina Petrovska says:

Hi Marica! No, it’s not gritty. Or, it shouldn’t be so long as you blend it all until smooth. I hope that helps!
