How To Make Garlic Butter Shrimp
Thus, with the best flavors and quickest prep time, this shrimp recipe is an easy appetizer, lunch, dinner, etc, that comes together quickly and can be served over anything. Or, over nothing! Just you, the skillet with shrimp, and a fork. Happy times. 🍤
- Cook the shrimp. Start with melting some butter, then add minced garlic and raw, deveined shrimp. Season the shrimp with salt, pepper, and sweet paprika; cook for 1 minute per side.
- Add butter, lemon, and herbs. When the shrimp start to turn pink, add butter, lemon juice, and herbs. I prefer fresh thyme or fresh basil and parsley, but you can use whatever fresh herbs you like.
- Remove from heat. Cook shrimp until it is completely pink and opaque, and there are no more grey or bluish bits. When the shrimp are completely pink, they are cooked through. DO NOT overcook. If cooked for too long, they will turn rubbery, and that’s definitely not a good thing. All in all, shrimp only need about 3 to 4 minutes to cook.
- Taste and serve. Taste for seasonings and adjust accordingly. I ALWAYS add more lemon juice. It’s never enough. 🤷♀️

Recipe Tips
- Use fresh ingredients; fresh shrimp, fresh lemon juice, and fresh herbs.
- Buy shrimp that’s already been shelled and deveined.
- Prep all your ingredients before you start because this recipe comes together really fast.
Serving Suggestions
You can serve the shrimp over spiralized zucchini or pasta. You’d love my garlic butter shrimp pasta recipe – it’s done in about 30 minutes! This mushroom rice is also a great option, or you can serve the shrimp with roasted vegetables and a side salad.
