Ingredients You’ll Need
- Top Sirloin Steak: Other steak cuts like ribeye or strip steak can be used.
- Salt, Ground Black Pepper, & Paprika: For basic seasoning to enhance the meat’s flavor.
- Vegetable Oil: Used for searing the steak – you can use any high-smoke point oil.

- Sesame Seeds and Green Onions: For garnish.
How To Make Honey Garlic Steak Bites
Making steak bites is a breeze, and the key trick here is using a hot skillet. This way, you avoid overcooking the steak. If your skillet is sizzling enough, the steak bites only need around 4 to 5 minutes to cook perfectly.
- Prep the Steak: Cube the steak and season it with paprika, salt, and pepper.
- Make the Sauce: In a bowl, whisk together the soy sauce, water, garlic, honey, sesame seed oil, rice vinegar, oregano, and cornstarch.
- Cook: Sear the steak cubes in hot oil in a cast iron skillet, then set aside. Stir the sauce and add it to the skillet to deglaze. Then, return the steak and cook until the sauce thickens.
- Serve: Garnish the finished dish with sesame seeds and green onions and serve.
Recipe Tips and Variations
- Let Them Sear: Hold off on stirring the steak bites immediately. Let them cook for a minute or two when they first hit the skillet to get that beautiful sear.
- Avoid Crowding: Cook your steak bites in batches. Overcrowding leads to steaming instead of that desired browning effect.
- Resting Time: Once cooked, let the steak bites rest for a few minutes. This helps them hold onto their juices, ensuring they are as tender and flavorful as possible.
- Mix in Veggies: Toss in some vegetables like bell peppers, mushrooms, or onions while you cook the steak bites. Just remember to adjust your cooking time so everything is perfectly done.
- To Make Ahead: Cube the raw steak and store it in the refrigerator for up to two days. Before cooking, remove it from the fridge and allow it to sit at room temperature for 15 minutes. Also, prepare the honey garlic sauce and store it in an airtight container in the refrigerator. It will keep well for up to 3 days.

Weird flavor. I think it’s the oregano. I would omit it and try again.
It needs work. How is written didnโt quite work. It was not sticky at all. Too much liquid so it was almost the texture of a stew. The taste was ok. I would probably add twice the honey, and a little sriracha.
Cam you freeze this?? Also it’s Yummy
Yes, you can. Just place the cooled steak bites in a freezer bag, press out as much air as you can, seal it, and freeze for up to 3 months. Thaw in the fridge before reheating.
I liked the Honey Garlic Steak Bites, but my husband said it was OK. The left overs were better than the night the Honey Garlic Steak Bites were prepared. Next time, I may add a bit more garlic and honey along with using a touch of Cheyanne for a bit of a bite.
They were alright! I served mine on white rice. I’m a beginner cook, so I didn’t like that the recipe wasn’t cut and clear. Zero indicator of what temperature to heat the stove to; and when you pour the โ of sauce, it doesn’t mention if you’re supposed to keep those browned bits in the pan, or if you’re supposed to dump them out?? (Again, young and new to cooking, so I don’t know these types of things.) Also, the steak was a little bland, it could have been better had you marinated it beforehand. Sauce had good flavor though! I’m sure my parents would like this recipe, but it’s just not for me, and that’s okay. ๐
I think the issue here is that you didn’t scroll down to the recipe card. The recipe card in its entirety is located towards the bottom of the post, right above the comments section – it includes the amount of heat, all the ingredients, the directions that you need, nutritional analysis, and so on and so forth.
Also, bland food usually means that you didn’t add enough salt; the third ingredient(s) in the recipe card is “salt and pepper, to taste”… Salt and pepper to taste means the taste to the palate of the person that is making it.
FIRST TIME MAKING THIS! I made it for my mom and she absolutely loved it! I added a bit more honey than suggested, but it still turned out great! Thank you for sharing this recipe!!!!!!
That’s great! I am very glad you and your mom enjoyed it! Thank YOU! ๐
This really didn’t work for us. It had a bizarre flavor. We ate it but we didn’t keep the leftovers and I wont be making it again.
The taste was off for me the first time to. Next time on your sauce use chicken broth as the base and triple the amount of low sodium soy and quadruple the honey. Also use 2 tablespoons of sirachi. Trust me you will like it.
Turned out pretty good. Didn’t have the same color tho, mine turned out more brownish even tho I followed the recipe. Probably will add more honey next time.
I’m glad you enjoyed it! Thank YOU! ๐
Not sure what I did, but I was really disappointed with the flavor. A bit too salty for me and flavor profile was not what I expected.
I did that too. I put it over rice anf it was perfect ! Couldn’t even taste the salt. Doing it again tonight with no salt and more honey
Very easy and super yummy. Just the right balance of sweetness. excellent flavor!
About to try. Stay tune for results.
Very tasty. I marinated the cubes beef instead. I subbed maple syrup blend for honey, chili flakes for paprika, used only one spoonful of low sodium soy sauce and used ground peanuts in place of sesame oil. I will triple the sauce recipe next timeโmarinate the beef with half and upon serving using the remaining as a dipping sauce. I love sauce! Thanks for a fab recipe! Served with brown rice and Norwegian apple slaw.
Thank YOU! I’m glad you enjoyed it! ๐
