I’m not gonna lie to you. I didn’t get out of my pajamas today. I put on a robe, a pair of slippers, a baby on my hip, and…and that’s it. I did nothing. I knoooooow, I’m lame! Would it help if I told you that I took a shower? ‘Cause I did. Pinky swear.
15-degree weather will do that to you.
I also stuffed my face with the last two slices of this New York Style Crumb Cake. And a tall, homemade Peppermint White Chocolate Mocha Latte on the side. That may be a Christmas drink in your world, but in my world, it’s an all year-round drink, thanks to peppermint candies.
That, and a big slice of this cake, have been my breakfast foods for the past few days.
Of the 24 pieces of cake, I had at least 6.
You could say that I’ve gone off the deep end, but if there’s one thing that you should do in your lifetime, it is to make this Crumb Cake. A soft, sour cream coffee cake with a thick cinnamon streusel topping – you may be tempted to eat the topping before sinking your teeth into the tender, sweet cake. It’s SO good!
Before I leave and give you the recipe, I will have you know that while typing up this post I took a 5-minute break and went to put on a pair of yoga pants. I only did it because my husband is about to come home from work and I don’t want him to know that I stayed in my pajamas all day long. I don’t feel like listening to, “see, you get to stay in your pj’s all day, and play with the kids, and blah blaaaaah blaaaaaaaaaaaaaah…”. And then I’ll have to come back at him with, “I wish you could stay home one full day with the kids, and make breakfast, and lunch, and dinner, and snacks, and laundry, and play with the kids, and change diapers, and listen to Barney, and say NO to everything, and … ” This is how I argue back all.the.time.
I’m off to spend some quality time with my DVR. You know, before my husband gets to it!
