How to Make Air Fryer Sausage and Potatoes

Making this dish is a breeze – all you have to do is prep your sausage and veggies and then give everything a quick cook in the air fryer! The simple but zesty seasoning blend adds loads of flavor.

  1. Prep the Air Fryer and Vegetables. To begin, make sure to preheat the air fryer to 400˚F. Next, combine the cut potatoes, onions, and peppers in a large zip-top bag. Pour in the oil, and season the mixture with seasoned salt, pepper, Italian seasoning, and garlic powder. Close the bag and shake/massage to coat.
  2. Air Fry the Veggies. Spray the basket of the air fryer with your preferred (non-aerosol) cooking spray. Dump the veggies into the basket, and air-fry for 15 minutes, shaking the basket about halfway through cooking.
  3. Add the Sausage and Finish Cooking. When the 15 minutes are up, add the sausage to the air fryer basket, and cook for 5 more minutes.
  4. Enjoy! Transfer the sausage and potatoes to a serving dish, garnish with parsley, and serve hot.

Recipe Tips

If you prefer using the air fryer like I do, then you will definitely love this easy dinner! Air fryer sausage and potatoes is a flavorful meal that’s so simple and comforting, and these helpful tips will make sure it turns out a success every time!

  • Preheat Your Air Fryer: To get the crispiest results, I recommend letting your air fryer preheat before you cook. If it doesn’t have a preheat setting, just let it come to temperature for a few minutes before you start cooking.
  • Potato Sizes: Ensure potatoes are cut into even-sized wedges to promote uniform cooking.
  • Sausage Selection: Experiment with different types of sausages to adjust the flavor according to your preference.
  • Flavor: Allow the seasoned potatoes and vegetables to sit for a few minutes before cooking to absorb the flavors more effectively.
  • Experiment with Spices: Feel free to tweak the spice mix to cater to your individual tastes or try out new flavor combinations.
  • Shake the Basket: Remember to shake the basket from time to time during the cooking process, for even cooking and the best results.

Delicious Serving Suggestions

If you need side dish ideas, look at these lemon butter green beans or these Roasted Green Beans with Squash and Tomatoes. A cool, fresh, Classic Southern Coleslaw is another excellent option. I also suggest adding a drizzle of this sweet Honey Mustard Sauce over the sausages and potatoes.

How to Store and Reheat Leftovers

  • Leftover air fryer sausage and potatoes can be stored in the fridge for up to 3 days in an airtight container.
  • To freeze, cool down the sausage and veggies, and then place them in freezer bags or freezer containers. They will keep for up to 2 months in the freezer. Thaw in the fridge before reheating.

Can I use raw Italian sausage?

    1. Katerina says:

Yes, you can, but since they are raw, you’ll want to pierce the sausages a few times and cook them with the potatoes.
