1985. 7 years old. Stay with me here…I’m about to confess. I am trying to remember all the details.
I was watching TV when a blonde bombshell appeared on the screen, with lots of makeup, a bridal gown, and fantastically messy hair! And she was rolling on the ground with a microphone in her hand. If you don’t know who I’m talking about, yet, then you’re not a product of the 80′s… I’m sorry to hear that.
This was the release of the video, “Like a Virgin”, by Madonna. I fell in LOVE. In love with Madonna, in love with Pop music, but most of all, I fell in love with blonde hair! As I was watching the video I remember turning to my mom and telling her that, “when I grow up, I want to have blonde hair!”. She agreed. At the time she was a fake red-head.
My real hair color is as dark as night. What’s on my head right now comes only after $200+ bucks.
Why am I telling you all this?!
Because, a few years ago when I heard that Brownies went blonde, I freaked out! In a good way. I felt that there was a justification for my fake hair color; That, if a Brownie can go Blondie, well, then, so can I.
Now that I’ve confessed about my bottled hair, let me get one other thing off my chest … I like Blondies waaaaay more than Brownies! Like, a lot more.
Maybe because I LOVE me some brown sugar!
These babies are chewy, sweet, and versatile. You can add anything to them and they will still taste great. I happen to like this combo, caramel and white chocolate, because I just really like caramel and white chocolate. I know that white chocolate is not chocolate, but whatever. I like it.
Feel free to add in, or substitute, chocolate chips, butterscotch chips, nuts, dried fruits… anything goes.
