With Garlic Butter Sauce!

These pan-seared scallops are cooked in the most delicious garlicky butter sauce. If you’re wondering how to cook scallops, this is a great recipe to try.

WHAT KIND OF SCALLOPS SHOULD I USE?

There are two kinds of scallops you can find in the market: wet or dry. I recommend buying dry packed scallops, which means natural scallops that have NOT been treated with phosphates.

Fresh Scallops - dry packed Salt & Pepper Sweet Paprika Unsalted Butter Garlic White Wine Lemon Juice Fresh Parsley Lemon Slices - for garnish

Prep the Scallops

Pat the scallops dry with a paper towel, and remove any side muscle by pinching and tearing IT away.  

Cook the Scallops

Season the scallops, and saute in butter over high head for about 2 minutes per side.  Do NOT overcook!

Make the Garlic Butter

Set the scallops aside, then melt the remaining butter in the pan.  Add garlic, wine, and lemon juice and adjust seasonings to taste.

Combine Scallops and Sauce

Return scallops to the pan, spoon the sauce over them,  and garnish with parsley and lemon slices.

Serve immediately.  Scallops pair great with creamy pasta recipes, over polenta, or with some simple side veggies.
