Ingredients
1cupall-purpose flour
1/2cupsugar
1teaspoonbaking powder
1/4teaspoonsalt
1/2cupwhole milk
4tablespoonsbutter
1/2teaspoonwhite vinegar
1teaspoonpure vanilla extract
1whole egg
1cupfresh cherries, pitted, quartered
Instructions
Preheat oven to 350.
Grease doughnut pan with cooking spray; set aside.
In a mixing bowl, whisk together flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt; set aside.
Place milk, butter, white vinegar, vanilla, and egg in a small saucepan and cook over medium heat, stirring constantly with a whisk until butter melts, about one minute. Remove from heat.
Add milk mixture to flour mixture; whisk until combined.
Gently fold in cherries.
Spoon the mixture into prepared doughnut pan. (You may have to do this in batches if your doughnut pan is with fewer than 12 cavities)
Bake for 13 to 14 minutes, or until doughnuts begin to pull away from pan.
Remove and let sit for one minute.
Run a knife around the edges and invert the pan onto a cooling rack.
While they are cooling, make the vanilla glaze (optional)
