Ingredients
2cupshulled and cubed strawberries
½cupgranulated sugar
½cupwater
½teaspoonpure vanilla extract
4cupswhole milk
Instructions
Add the strawberries, sugar, water, and vanilla extract to a saucepan. Turn the heat to medium-high and bring the mixture to a boil. Reduce to medium-heat and cook for 10 minutes. Remove from heat.
Set a fine-sieved strainer over a 32-ounce mason jar. Pour the strawberry mixture into the strainer and let the syrup strain into the jar. It should yield about 1/3 cup. Let it cool for a bit.
Add the milk to the mason jar and mix with a spoon until the milk turns a consistent shade of pink. Taste and adjust the sweetness if needed.
Use Fresh Strawberries: Fresh, ripe, sweet strawberries will give you the best flavor. You can use frozen strawberries, but the taste may not be as vibrant.
Sweeten to Taste: Depending on how sweet your strawberries are, you might need to adjust the amount of sugar in your syrup. Taste as you go and adjust accordingly.
Strain the Syrup: Don't skip this step. After making your strawberry syrup, strain it to remove any seeds and pulp.
Cool the Syrup: Before mixing it with milk, make sure your strawberry syrup has cooled a bit. Adding hot syrup to cold milk could cause it to curdle.
Whole Milk is Best: While you can use any type of milk, whole milk will give your strawberry milk a rich and creamy flavor. For a dairy-free alternative, you can use almond or oat milk.
Storage: Homemade strawberry milk is best consumed fresh, but you can store it in the fridge for a couple of days. Give it a good stir before drinking.
Garnish: Garnish your strawberry milk with a fresh strawberry or a dollop of whipped cream.
