Wrapped in fresh lettuce, these garlicky Asian chicken lettuce wraps are the perfect low-carb tacos. Stir-fried with soy sauce and hoisin sauce, they are a healthy bite.

what's the best lettuce to use?

Sturdy and crunchy lettuce works best, so that you can fold your tacos properly without them falling apart. Bibb and iceberg lettuce are great options.

What You'll Need

- Olive Oil - Yellow Onion - Garlic - Ginger - Ground Chicken - Hoisin Sauce - Soy Sauce - Rice Vinegar - Hot Sauce - Sesame Oil - Canned Water Chestnuts - Scallions - Salt & Pepper - Bibb Lettuce

Cook the Onions

Cook the onions in a skillet for 3-5 minutes until softened.  Add the garlic and ginger and cook for 20 seconds more.

Make the Sauce

Whisk together the sauce ingredients in a small bowl, then set aside.

Cook the Chicken

Add the ground chicken to the pan with the onions and cook for 6-8 minutes, or until fully cooked.

Add the Sauce

Pour the sauce into the pan and cook for 2-3 minutes, until it is reduced a little bit.

Add the Chestnuts

Remove the pan from the heat and add the water chestnuts and scallions.  Season with salt and pepper to taste.

Enjoy!

Spoon the chicken mixture down the center of each lettuce leaf, and serve.
