This Giveaway is now closed. Congratulations to Christiane, The Mom Chef – Taking on Magazines One Recipe at a Time, the winner of this fantastic book!

plate to pixel

Two weeks ago I picked up a copy of the book, Plate to Pixel: Digital Food Photography & Styling, by the very talented Helene Dujardin.

After I received the book and realized that this was actually The Bible of Food Photography, I picked up another copy just in case I lose the first one.

Okay, so, no, that’s not why I bought a second copy. I picked up one more copy so that I can give one to YOU!

I know how important food photography is in this wonderful world of food blogging, and that is why I want to share this book with the rest. And because I love you and appreciate you for all the support you have given me over the past 150 posts!! I know it’s the 100th post that you’re supposed to celebrate, but I didn’t notice my number of posts until it reached 118. 🙂

I am sure that you will enjoy this book just as much as I do. It is filled with the answers that many of us are seeking about photography; composition, styling, editing, lighting, etc… you will love learning from it! And you don’t have to be a food blogger to appreciate it – anyone that is remotely interested in photography will benefit greatly from this book.

I cannot believe the competition for this book! I love your name, Diethood(is that like childhood, parenthood, etc?) , and the recipe today for the pizza. I think I tried that once years ago, and I am ready to do it again after that picture. OH, MY FAV ingredients too. Please announce on email tomorrow who won this great contest. Following still, someone who has been in diethood since they were 12, JULIE

  4. Deborah Dowd

Great blog! And you only have to look at my blog to see that I am photographically challenged. It is frustrating to make something special and delicious and then not be able to capture its beauty for others- this book would certainly be a help!

  5. Lindsay C

I was so excited when I heard that Helene was writing a book because I have always admired her photography. I would love to win the book!

  6. Peggy

This sounds like an amazing book Kate! Even if I don’t win, I think I just may have to pick a copy up for myself =)

  7. Amanda Thompson

I love the fact that you call your grill R2D2! I really like your blog ~ I wish I had discovered it sooner!

  8. Apron Appeal

I just commented on a promo for this book on fb. I know I need this book, but I keep telling myself I don’t want it because I don’t want my pictures to look like everyone elses…but really it’s because I’m worried I’ll try it, think I’m amazing and foodgawker will STILL reject my photos. 🙂 I hate rejection….foodblogging is like high school all over again.

  9. Lil @ sweetsbysillianah

awesome giveaway, kate! thanks for the chance to win… i’d love to read all about Helene’s food photography tips and tricks.

  10. Dee

I tweeted, facebooked and I stumbeled. Whew, I’m tired now 🙂 Do I get extra points for being a previous liker, follower, subscriber? 😉 What if I told you how pretty you are? Too much? This is getting weird…..

  11. Sandra

  13. Carrie @ Pure and Yummy

I have met quite a few bloggers that have stood out to me since I started my blog last fall, and you are one of them. I love to read your posts and I especially appreciate all your fabulous comments on my blog as well. I too have an almost 2 year old daughter and I think she would love those garlic crackers as much as your little one. They look absolutely fabulous! This book sounds amazing and winning it would just save me from having to order it. 🙂

  14. Emily

HEY!! I would love love love to have this book because I am hoping to start a food blog of my own very very soon! I am really pumped about it, but I really don’t have much experience with photography…but it’s my passion to cook! 😀

  15. The Prudent Homemaker

Pick me! Pick me! As a very broke food photographer who eats from my pantry and garden, I can’t buy food or books too often, and I’ve wanted this one for a long time!

  16. Biren @ Roti n Rice

What a fabulous giveaway! I have been meaning to ge this book and haven’t yet. You do have a lovely blog! 🙂

  17. Liv B

Now, I’m not from the US, but I figured it was worth commenting. I’ve recently been taking more of an interest in the styling & photography. It’s hard when you cook at night & your kitchen has no natural light (*cry*). Eventually I’ll get a proper kitchen & perhaps I might just check out the book for myself. 🙂 Good luck everyone!

  18. Katherine Martinelli

I already like you on FB (Katherine M)! I also already like Helene Dujardin if that counts for anything 🙂

  19. BackCountryBelle

If I didn’t have Social Security Claiming Strategies and Retirementology already in my briefcase to read, I’d go out and buy the book. Ok, so that’s my plea 🙂

  24. Cassie @ Bake Your Day

I could definitely use some tips on food photography, always improving but I’ve got a long way to go!

Your wonderful personality shines through your writing and your delicious posts keep us coming back! How’s that? 🙂

  32. Nami @ Just One Cookbook

I just made the account of StumbleUpon and liked it. I hope that’s what I was supposed to do….? Thank you for being very very generous, Kate! =)

  33. Nami @ Just One Cookbook

I just set up Google Reader and subscribing now. Sorry I have never used Reader (usually I follow by email subscription) but I needed to do this anyway.

  34. Nami @ Just One Cookbook

I love your blog because 1) you make delicious food and dessert (too obvious), 2) you make us feel like we already know you – kind, very open and friendly, and funny! Why do I need this book…because I really need to work on my photography to get my own style. I started photography because of food blogging, but I had never had a chance to learn basic YET…so it’s time to invest my time and money (if I don’t win). Okay so this is for Main entry. 🙂

I was literally just looking at this book yesterday on Amazon.com and called around to see who carried it. I want this book as I’m looking to finally buy a good camera and I thought it would help me make the choice on what to buy. 🙂

Also I do love your recipes and blog!

  47. Jill@MadAboutMacarons

Darn, it’s for USA only but what the hell, I’m telling you I love you all the same because I love your recipes, you’re a beautiful person, down-to-earth, and you ROCK! I also follow you on Facebook. Don’t ask about the others, since I’m not a twitterer nor do I understand about stumbling, since I do that every day anyway without the computer. Book looks fabulous. Now I wonder why you picked a macaron page? 🙂

  48. L. Fair

I’d like to win this book so I can give it to my sister who’s starting a blog on Japanese sweets and has had her eye on Plate to Pixel since she heard about it.

Oh, friend, you know I love you and follow you here, there and everywhere. I don’t think you even need the the book. You have style coming out your pores already. Your food was stunning before you read the thing.

I, on the other hand, am style-challenged in all areas of life. 🙂

  53. Gabby@FoodChowDown

  54. Kim - Liv Life

My dear Kate… you are the most wonderful food blogger, mommy and all around person that we have all met here in the Blogosphere. Your recipes are delicious and your photography… well, it is simply stunning! You are witty and I love that if I come to your house someday I can count on the fact that there will be NO burgers that were purchased in a tube from Sam’s. We love you!!!

Why I love Kate… let me count the ways… LOL! Seriously, I’d love this book… because it would be A LOT cheaper than the macro photography class I’m thinking about giving myself for my birthday in August! 😀

  60. Julie Maxwell

WHY would I have a website when I can read YOURS? My husband’s most frequent statement nowadays is: ” Are you still looking at recipes?” I love your comments and how you lead me on a wonderful journey to other great cooks. I have a 29 year old daughter who LOVES to bake; however, I know better than to ask her to make a recipe that doesn’t have a picture. I only buy her recipe books with pictures. This sounds like the BOOK for her!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
    Thanks for sharing! Julie
