Blueberry Agua Fresca
You guys! Happy 4th of July!!!
Do you have plans for today?? Do they include burgers and hot dogs?! LUCKY!
My husband is working thus my plans for face-stuffing will have to wait until after 5 p.m. Until then, you can find me over at Facebook or Pinterest. Or both.
Most likely, both…
So. Once upon a time I was a hungry, pregnant woman. I was so hungry that eating was a sport. I would try to outdo myself each and every time, just to see how much I could eat in one sitting.
Okay… I wasn’t THAT bad. BUT I was hungraaaay!
One day, during that whole 9-month ordeal, the hubs and I decided to live it up and go to Olive Garden for dinner. 😉 The first thing that I saw on their virgin-drinks menu was an Agua Fresca. Or maybe it was an Acqua Fresca. It was colorful, it was bright, it looked incredibly refreshing, and I ordered a pitcher.
I enjoyed it so much that I went back a few more times the following week just to load up on their berry water. I was 8-months pregnant. In JULY! The heat was a killer.
Agua Fresca Is One Of My Favorite Summer Drinks
Then, one day, soon after I had the little babe, I went, again, to sip on some acqua-agua-thingamajig.
Get this. They discontinued it. Done. Finito. NO MO’. The nerve! Here I was, in my 4th trimester, and without my summer-drink. I was so bummed out. Honestly. It was an awful experience.
Few hours later I was thanking the Lord for Google. As soon as I typed in “agua fresca”, Google told me all about it and I was armed with the ingredients that helped me concoct this beauty in my own kitchen.
I’ve been making it ever since, almost 5 years now, and it is one of the most refreshing flavored waters, yet.
If you’re looking to serve something light, refreshing, and without alcohol, this Agua Fresca is a great choice. Also, if you are looking for last minute 4th of July food ideas, check out my 4th of July Recipes Roundup!
