Here we are about to enjoy another Thingamajig Tuesday. YAY for us!!

As you know, I always have the best of intentions when I step into the kitchen every morning to make myself and my little babe a healthy, green smoothie. And a gallon of coffee. For me, of course. But first, smoothie. 

Somehow, somewhere along the way I get lost in my own creativity and, well, end up with a smoothie that’s probably as sweet as cake, and it beats a Big Mac in the calories-category.

However, one little switch changed all of that in a big way.

My morning cereal always includes a cup of Silk Almondmilk. SO! Here’s my question… Why didn’t I start using said Almondmilk in my smoothies a bit sooner?! BECAUSE I am not that smart. Plain and simple.

It wasn’t up until the day I wanted to switch little Aleksandra from whole milk to Almondmilk that made me change my morning strategy.

The first time I offered her Silk’s Almondmilk in a cup, her face said, “are you fo’ reals?!”. And then she started to scream, or cry…

My next move was to include it in her cereal. Again, she cried. And asked for “moo”.

But, you know what they say; third time is a charm.

On my last try is when it finally dawned on me that I could totally add Almondmilk in an Apple Pie Smoothie and she would TOTALLY dig it! And she DID!

That first sip of her favorite Apple Pie Smoothie with Almondmilk was a success. Truly, she sipped it up in record time.

As you can imagine, I did the happy dance. I mean, baby-girl doesn’t need to know about what’s in the smoothie – she just needs to drink it and love it. And she does. Also? Now she likes Almondmilk in her cereal, too. As long as there’s strawberries floating around, she’s cool. Still can’t get her to sip it up, plain… we’re working on it.

Hopefully you have some apples and apple pie spice…

Ingredients
  • 2 Apples, peeled, cored, diced
  • 1 Banana, sliced, frozen
  • 1/2 cup non-fat plain yogurt
  • 1/2 cup Silk Almondmilk Original
  • 1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
  • 1 tablespoon brown sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon apple pie spice
  • 1 cup ice cubes
Instructions
  1. Place all ingredients into a blender and blend until well combined and smooth.
  2. Serve.
