Combine the chicken with the spices, seasonings, lemon juice and yogurt in a zip top bag.
Caramelize the onions in a skillet, then add the cashews. Transfer to a blender, add yogurt, and pulse until smooth.
Saute the spices, then stir in the chicken and cook for 5 minutes. Add the sauce, water, and remaining seasonings.
Cover and simmer for 12-15 minutes, until chicken is cooked through. Stir in heavy cream, and cook for 2 minutes more.
Taste, and adjust seasonings as desired. Garnish with fresh cilantro and serve with rice.
