Celebrating the arrival of Fall with a $100.00 Amazon Gift Card GIVEAWAY!
Are you sick of summer? Probably not. But, now that the kids are back to school and pools are closing, many of us are ready to say goodbye to summer and HELLO to Fall. It is nearly the time of year when we can expect the weather to cool, and some of our favorite crops are harvested; delicious fall vegetables like pumpkins, apples, squash, and many others. While many of us are excited about autumn being right around the corner, we also know it comes with certain expenses. Fall festivals, a new fall wardrobe, favorite fall recipes, and Halloween don’t come cheap, leaving many of us already counting our pennies in preparation for September 22.
Knowing that many of our readers are excited about the start of fall, Budget Earth & A Spectacled Owl decided to put together something special just for you. My fondest memory of fall is sitting around a campfire with my husband and children enjoying the cool weather, gazing at the Milky Way Galaxy, and roasting marshmellows on the fire.
Going apple picking and then making apple cider and applesauce!
When I was a little girl, my grandparents helped run a booth at the SC State Fair . It was always in October. The nights were cold but the days were very warm. Papa would give us grandkids a quarter and a corndog to keep us busy. Rides, games, live stock and the best junk food ever. What a fun fall time we had !
One of m fondest Fall memories is our family trips each October to the roadside farmer’s stand to pick our pumpkin, drink cider and buy fudge!
Sweaters and boots
Ever since I was a little girl, my family has always attended our town’s Fall festival each year. It’s something we still do as a family only now I’m blessed to include my husband and son in the mix. We don’t live in my hometown anymore but we always travel back each year to visit for the festival.
Thanks so much for the opportunity!
Kate

Going to the War Eagle Fair in AR during the fall with my girls and mom. So many great memories!! It’s a tradition now.
My fondest memories of Fall are the traditions I’ve started with my own children of making caramel apples, visiting the pumpkin farm and the start of holiday baking!

The color palette is beautiful, cold but not color death.

Camping in northern Michigan in October, hiking the trails, picking apples at the orchard and carving pumpkins for the black squirrels that watch us as we sit around the campfire!
I love the colors of fall. And the fall baking.
My fiance and I moved to MI from Charlotte, NC last winter and I’ve been looking forward to fall ever since……well…. ever since I moved to Charlotte in 2009. I grew up in NY and have desperately missed the crisp fall weather. To me, the fall is all about wearing sweaters, apple picking, cider donuts, pumpkin carving, trick-or-treating with thermal underwear under your princess costume. It ALL equals Fall to me and living in the South in the fall was miserable…. at least to me. It never cooled off until Thanksgiving!!! I’m sooooo glad to be back up north and it’s already cool enough in the mornings for me to wear a fleece when I walk the dog. I love that!
I love drinking homebrewed porter or apfelwein (apple wine) or spiked hot apple cider around a fire with good company and lots of dogs running around.
I LOVE Fall! I love pumpkins, Halloween, Fall flavors, and school! 🙂
eating my mom’s sweet potato pie on a cold day
My best fall memory is when my Grandma used to bake pumpkin bread! No one can make it like she did!
Always loved visiting a local orchard and cider mill. Nothing like a juicy, crunchy apple and a mug of spiced apple cider.
36 years ago on a very windy overcast chilly October day my husband and I were on the beach at Cape San Blas FL when we decided to get married!
Drinking hot apple cider and eating pumpkin donuts
Fondest Fall Memory is when my boyfriend, Husband now, took me to a arts and crafts festival in Lechworth Park, NY and the leaves were golden, it was chilly out and I remember having hot apple cider for the first time. It was a magical day!!
Trick or Treating always makes me think of fall as a kid.
I loved roasting pumpkin seeds once a year!
I love the color and smells of fall. One of my favorite memories in childhood was making a house (rooms were outlined with my grandfather’s raked leaves) where I could play and then raking them back up and jumping in them. Friday night high school football games are another fall favorite
I loved Friday night high school football games in hoodie sweatshirts. Apple picking.
Going back to college and seeing the Oak Grove, the center of my campus, had changed into a brilliant orange.
Thanksgiving Dinner with my extended family, and Halloween parties.
High school football is a favorite memory.
I always loved going to the apple orchard with my family and picking oodles of fresh apples in the fab MI fall weather!
I love the look of sunlight shining between color-changing leaves during the late afternoons. I cannot wait for fall to begin!
