Giveaway: Plate to Pixel Book

This Giveaway is now closed. Congratulations to Christiane, The Mom Chef – Taking on Magazines One Recipe at a Time, the winner of this fantastic book!

plate to pixel

Two weeks ago I picked up a copy of the book, Plate to Pixel: Digital Food Photography & Styling, by the very talented Helene Dujardin.

After I received the book and realized that this was actually The Bible of Food Photography, I picked up another copy just in case I lose the first one.

Okay, so, no, that’s not why I bought a second copy. I picked up one more copy so that I can give one to YOU!

I know how important food photography is in this wonderful world of food blogging, and that is why I want to share this book with the rest. And because I love you and appreciate you for all the support you have given me over the past 150 posts!! I know it’s the 100th post that you’re supposed to celebrate, but I didn’t notice my number of posts until it reached 118. :)

I am sure that you will enjoy this book just as much as I do. It is filled with the answers that many of us are seeking about photography; composition, styling, editing, lighting, etc… you will love learning from it! And you don’t have to be a food blogger to appreciate it – anyone that is remotely interested in photography will benefit greatly from this book.

I cannot believe the competition for this book! I love your name, Diethood(is that like childhood, parenthood, etc?) , and the recipe today for the pizza. I think I tried that once years ago, and I am ready to do it again after that picture. OH, MY FAV ingredients too. Please announce on email tomorrow who won this great contest. Following still, someone who has been in diethood since they were 12, JULIE

Great blog! And you only have to look at my blog to see that I am photographically challenged. It is frustrating to make something special and delicious and then not be able to capture its beauty for others- this book would certainly be a help!

  5. Amanda Thompson says

I love the fact that you call your grill R2D2! I really like your blog ~ I wish I had discovered it sooner!

  6. says

I just commented on a promo for this book on fb. I know I need this book, but I keep telling myself I don’t want it because I don’t want my pictures to look like everyone elses…but really it’s because I’m worried I’ll try it, think I’m amazing and foodgawker will STILL reject my photos. :) I hate rejection….foodblogging is like high school all over again.

  7. says

I tweeted, facebooked and I stumbeled. Whew, I’m tired now :) Do I get extra points for being a previous liker, follower, subscriber? 😉 What if I told you how pretty you are? Too much? This is getting weird…..

  8. says

Love u n bunches Kate and I’m a facebook fan. I want to win this book in hopes that I’ll learn how to make better use of the camera that I have. And so I can drool over the pictures!

  9. Kelly G says

Hi! I would love to have this book because I love food and I love photography and love taking pics of my food. And would really like to learn how to do it more justice!

  10. says

I have met quite a few bloggers that have stood out to me since I started my blog last fall, and you are one of them. I love to read your posts and I especially appreciate all your fabulous comments on my blog as well. I too have an almost 2 year old daughter and I think she would love those garlic crackers as much as your little one. They look absolutely fabulous! This book sounds amazing and winning it would just save me from having to order it. :)

  11. Emily says

HEY!! I would love love love to have this book because I am hoping to start a food blog of my own very very soon! I am really pumped about it, but I really don’t have much experience with photography…but it’s my passion to cook! 😀

  12. says

Now, I’m not from the US, but I figured it was worth commenting. I’ve recently been taking more of an interest in the styling & photography. It’s hard when you cook at night & your kitchen has no natural light (*cry*). Eventually I’ll get a proper kitchen & perhaps I might just check out the book for myself. :) Good luck everyone!

  13. Michaela Rosenthal says

OH!!! Angela, you KNOW how many photos of food and drink I take. I use my camera everyday. I REALLY NEED TO WIN THAT BOOK !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  14. Pam Shank says

Oh my photography needs so much help! I am really just starting with this and could really benefit from this book. Thanks

  15. says

Kate, you of all of my friends need this book the least. Your photography is stunning. Me on the other hand, I need help. Seriously need help with the photography. If I didn’t have Social Security Claiming Strategies and Retirementology already in my briefcase to read, I’d go out and buy the book. Ok, so that’s my plea :-)

  16. says

wow it took me awhile to post this 103 comments later! I feel like I am in the cellar! This is a great giveaway for sure! :) thanks for the opportunity! Never can have enough knowledge on photography, I am clueless! LOL

  17. says

Okay, even though I already have the book (so I declare that I my comments shouldn’t count to give someone else a chance to win) and am already a follower on Twitter and fan on FB…we love you because you are a ray of sunshine on our blog feed each time you post. Your wonderful personality shines through your writing and your delicious posts keep us coming back! How’s that? :-)

  18. says

How do I love thee… let me count the ways…

    1.) You’re really pretty!
    2.) You have yummy recipes!
    3.) You’re funny!
    4.) Your photos are beautiful

    And the list goes on!

  19. says

I would love to win a copy of Plate to Pixel! I love Helene’s blog and her photography! Of course, I want to learn from the best. As I’m new in food photography, I still have a lot to learn! Thanks for a chance to win.

  20. says

I love your blog because 1) you make delicious food and dessert (too obvious), 2) you make us feel like we already know you – kind, very open and friendly, and funny! Why do I need this book…because I really need to work on my photography to get my own style. I started photography because of food blogging, but I had never had a chance to learn basic YET…so it’s time to invest my time and money (if I don’t win). Okay so this is for Main entry. :-)

  21. says

Such an awesome giveaway Kate! when i started my blog, i wasn’t really into photography but as time has progressed, i enjoy taking pictures more and more so i can really use this book and learn a few things!

  22. says

I love you because you make amazing food! I added your snikertle pie to my bday wihslist of food (you gota check it out). And I love your gorgeous pics, I want mine to look like yours, that’s why I need this book!

  23. says

Well if you see my posts, you will see that I am in desperate need for “better food photos”, so I would love the book. So sweet of you to think ahead like that.

    Thanks:

  24. says

I just got that book too (so obviously I dont need to be entered to win). I havent had a chance to read it yet, still trying to get through my camera manual for new DSLR. LOL- but glad to know it is Kate approved!

  25. says

I was literally just looking at this book yesterday on Amazon.com and called around to see who carried it. I want this book as I’m looking to finally buy a good camera and I thought it would help me make the choice on what to buy. :)

Also I do love your recipes and blog!

  26. says

Darn, it’s for USA only but what the hell, I’m telling you I love you all the same because I love your recipes, you’re a beautiful person, down-to-earth, and you ROCK! I also follow you on Facebook. Don’t ask about the others, since I’m not a twitterer nor do I understand about stumbling, since I do that every day anyway without the computer. Book looks fabulous. Now I wonder why you picked a macaron page? :-)

  27. L. Fair says

I’d like to win this book so I can give it to my sister who’s starting a blog on Japanese sweets and has had her eye on Plate to Pixel since she heard about it.

  28. says

Wow, congratulations on your 150th post! Keep up the great work! I too have a food blog and this book is at the top of my wish list, mainly because I’m passionate about food photography but still have a long way to go- I’m learning new things every day. Thanks for the awesome giveaway!

  29. says

My dear Kate… you are the most wonderful food blogger, mommy and all around person that we have all met here in the Blogosphere. Your recipes are delicious and your photography… well, it is simply stunning! You are witty and I love that if I come to your house someday I can count on the fact that there will be NO burgers that were purchased in a tube from Sam’s. We love you!!!

How was that??? =) I couldn’t resist tell you how much we all love you!! Seriously, don’t enter me in the giveaway as I actually just ordered a copy and it arrives today!!! Hooray!!! A wonderful giveaway, someday we will all be ready to step into some magazine photographers shoes!
    Happy Summer!

  32. says

I love you, I like you on Facebook, I follow you on twitter, I’m stalking your RSS feeds and will stumble a little later when I get on my PC.

P.s. I have the book, no need to count my comment for the giveaway.

  33. says

Why I love Kate… let me count the ways… LOL! Seriously, I’d love this book… because it would be A LOT cheaper than the macro photography class I’m thinking about giving myself for my birthday in August! 😀

  34. Julie Maxwell says

WHY would I have a website when I can read YOURS? My husband’s most frequent statement nowadays is: ” Are you still looking at recipes?” I love your comments and how you lead me on a wonderful journey to other great cooks. I have a 29 year old daughter who LOVES to bake; however, I know better than to ask her to make a recipe that doesn’t have a picture. I only buy her recipe books with pictures. This sounds like the BOOK for her!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
    Thanks for sharing! Julie
