Whaaat? Leftover candy?! Is that even possible? Not around here! Even though Halloween isn’t for another few days, one big bucket of candy is already gone. Abracadabra… Poof! All gone.
I know that most of the plain milk chocolates made their way to my husband. The Twix and Kit Kats chilled with me, and Ana is collecting all the M&M’s, Reese’s, and who knows what else. Ana said she was glad that Aleksandra was so small because she doesn’t want to share her candy with her little sister. Great! That’s a peek into my future.
I think I ate more than half the candy bars while making these hand pies. Hey, Ana helped! She also drizzled the top of the pies with chocolate. The ones photographed were the best ones that I could pull out of 12.
But, what’s important is that she and I had a blast baking all these Halloween treats together. She did test my nerves on many occasions, but I kept my cool and told myself, “It’s not about you, it’s about the kids…It will never be about you again…”.
So how about these hand pies! I usually make a frozen pie with all the leftover candy, but these past two years I have turned toward the hand pies. They are so quick and easy. Chop up the candy, put it on the pie crust, fold over and bake! You can even use store-bought pie crust…I did!
