Blondies Recipe



 

Because, a few years ago when I heard that Brownies went blonde, I freaked out! In a good way. I felt that there was a justification for my fake hair color: if a Brownie can go Blondie, well, then so can I.

Now that I’ve confessed about my bottled hair, let me get one other thing off my chest … I like Blondies more than Brownies!

These babies are chewy, sweet, and versatile. You can add anything to them, and they will still taste great. I happen to like this combination of caramel and white chocolate because I just really like caramel and chocolate. I know that white chocolate is not chocolate, but whatever. I like it.

Feel free to add or substitute chocolate chips, butterscotch chips, nuts, dried fruits… anything goes.

How To Make Blondies

Blondies with Caramel Bits and White Chocolate Drizzle

A chewy blondie base is upgraded with the addition of caramel and a white chocolate drizzle. So good!

Ingredients
  

  • 8 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 1 whole egg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 1 cup of all-purpose flour
  • pinch of salt
  • ½ cup caramel bits
  • ½ cup white chocolate chips, melted

Instructions
 

  • Preheat oven to 350˚F. Grease an 8×8 pan and line it with parchment paper.
  • In a large bowl beat together the butter and brown sugar until smooth.
  • Add in the egg and the vanilla, continue beating until incorporated.
  • In a separate bowl sift together the flour and salt.
  • Mix the flour into the brown sugar mixture with a wooden spoon until well blended. Mix in the caramel bits.
  • Pour into the pan and bake for 25 to 30 minutes or until the middle of the cake is set.
  • In the meantime melt the white chocolate chips in the microwave.
  • Cool the blondies before frosting them with the melted white chocolate and cutting.

  1. Oh, you had me at ” wedding gown, rolling on the floor” I too, am a proud product of the 80’s as well as some good ole redken and foils every 6 weeks. Foils on my head, that is. Cannot do without blonde since 86!!! (40) is the lucky number today. And I am squealing at this scrumptious recipe!! I WILL hit the Target baking isle tomorrow ( after the gym) of course, lol.. Those look like heaven!! I totally trust in a fellow Madge fan! Yes, their gonna be “striking a lil pose” right into my kitchen very soon!!, thanks for sharing!! Love your stuff.!! Btw, Muddys were a hit while watching the inauguration Monday!!!

    Blondies are one of my favorites!!! Not sure why I have never put caramel bits in there. Seriously? So good!

    Kate…I am with you! I much prefer blondies to brownies and I do think it’s all about that brown sugar. But I love that chewy, sticky sweet goodness….and caramel and white chocolate just sends this right over the top! They really look awesome! (and yes….I remember that video well!)

    Oh I didn’t care that my hair was fake beach blonde haha..I was for more than decade blonde but got tired and went to dark, dark indigo black….talk about drastic change LOL!
    anyhow your blondies look amazing and would be perfect with my afternoon coffee. Great pic btw!

  6. I think that was the year I got a bunch of “Madonna” themed birthday gifts. Funky headbands, gloves, etc. And yep, I insisted to my mom too that if my hair ever got darker I was making it blonder again (it did and I do!). 🙂 I love a good blondie too. My favorites have peanut butter chips in them. Mmmmm! Hope the first week of school went well!
