Feta cheese – you either love it, or hate it. I had no choice but to love it. As a Macedonian you are almost expected to want to eat it night and day. It’s like an Italian and his mozzarella cheese; they go hand in hand.
I can eat feta with every meal, and with every course of that meal; I put it in my salads, I stuff it in my peppers, I flame it, I even bake it! Oooooh I love it when it’s baked!
Baked feta cheese dip can, and will, turn all feta-haters around. This appetizer is served at just about every restaurant in Macedonia (called сирење во фурна – sirenje vo furna) and one serving is never enough. It’s cheesy, it’s garlicky, a bit tart, and it’s warm and gooey. And, it will make you cry for more. Trust me.
To fully enjoy it all you will need is a side of flatbread, white wine, or beer, and a grilled steak to follow.
I think you just drooled – It’s okay – you can thank me later.

I had some feta dip for the first time at a professional conference, and I’ve been looking for a recipe since. I love it! I will have to try this out!
Yum, Kate! This looks right up my alley! However, I want to ask you–did you simply melt some feta in a dish? Or, are there other components inside the melted goodness? And what percentage do you use? Full-fat? Low-fat? I’d think that lower fat fetas are drier and crumblier?

No, I do not melt the feta beforehand, and the feta is full-fat!

I never made anything with feta cheese , and I think I had it once or twice in salad.. in some restaurant. I enjoy baked cheese all the time .. and this looks soo amazing. U made me crave for cheese .. me now going to make some cheesy pasta .

I’ve never baked feta before but this looks delicious. This is the perfect thing to serve at a cocktail party. Some bread and fresh vegetables and you’re done!

I admit, I am the only person I know who loves feta. I have never had it baked though – I have got to try this! I am used to ooey cheese dips – like you know…. caugh, velveeta. I’ve never heard of anything like this before.
